Mr. Buelna’s practice focuses on Civil Rights litigation, involving police misconduct and brutality, as well as Criminal Defense. Buelna is licensed to practice in both California State and Federal Courts.
Prior to becoming a an attorney, he was a summer law clerk for the East Bay Children’s Law Offices, which focuses on representing foster children, then joined the Law Offices of John Burris as a law clerk for three years.
His previous employment includes participating in the Teach for America program where he was employed as a middle school teacher in the Bronx, New York. He also spent a year working and living at an orphanage in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where he cared for and educated children.
Buelna is fluent in both English and Brazilian Portuguese. He spends his free time with his wife and family. He is an avid surfer.
