4 Oakland officers on leave after assault in December

The Oakland Tribune reports (https://bayareane.ws/1p8sdWd ) Thursday that the incident occurred the evening of Dec. 7, when Officer Cullen William Faeth showed up at Olga Cortez‘s home demanding to speak to the owner. The details of why Faeth and three other officers were there remain unclear. But a brief struggle left Cortez with bruises.
Faeth was later arrested on suspicion of assault and public intoxication.
The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case for criminal charges. Attorney John Burris has also filed a claim against the city, which names Faeth and Sgt. Joe Turner. The names of the other officers under investigation were not released.
Department spokeswoman Johnna Watson said allegations of misconduct are taken seriously. An internal affairs probe is ongoing.
